Phot of Beverly Jean MatsonBeverly Jean Matson, 63, of Gearhartville, RD Philipsburg, was called home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 15, 2015 while on a family trip to visit Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Born on December 14, 1951 in Clearfield, she was a daughter of the late Chester and Helen (Miller) Homman. She will be sorely missed by family and friends.

Beverly was a member of the Bigler United Methodist Church and was a 1969 graduate of the Clearfield Area High School. She worked with life skills students as a teacher’s aide for the Central Intermediate Unit 10 for 33 years. She lived life to the fullest. Beverly loved traveling, especially to Presque Isle in Erie and Rehoboth Beach. She loved gardening, taking daily walks, cooking, dancing, caring for her dog, “Peanut,” and most importantly, spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and was a blessing to all who met her. She always put others first, and her beautiful smile will never be forgotten.

She married James Matson on June 4, 1977, who survives at home. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Jamie Matson and his companion, Vickie Price; Joe Matson and his wife, Kris; and Scott Matson and his wife, Nikki, all of Philipsburg; five grandchildren, Ashley Matson of Sandy Ridge; Caleb, Parker, Chloe and Sophia Matson, all of Philipsburg. Also surviving are three sisters, Wilda “Sis” Williams of Morrisdale; Jan Dunlap and her husband, Dave of Philipsburg; and Deb Stiner and her husband, Gary of Lanse; and two brothers, Wilford Homman and his wife, Mary of Morrisdale and Don Homman and his wife, Donna of Bigler.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Leon and Harold Homman.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, Philipsburg with Pastor Kathy Leigey, officiating. Interment will follow at the Bigler Cemetery.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday, August 21, 2015 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m.
