Betty J. Marince

Betty Marince, 88, of Philipsburg, passed away peacefully at Penn Highlands Tyrone on Sunday, February 18, 2024.

Born on September 26, 1935, in Philipsburg, daughter of the late Clair and Tillie Jane (Litzinger) Hudson. Wed to Patrick J. Marince, on December 31, 1955; who preceded her in death on December 18, 1989.

She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Petrosky and her husband, Buck, of Osceola Mills, PA and Kathy Zekan, of Port St.  Lucie, FL; three grandchildren: Ronni Petrosky, Randi Bone and her husband, Howie and Kelly Baur and her husband, Brett; four great grandchildren: Cheyenne, Saige and Trinnity Bone and Beau Baur; a sister, Shirley Malasky; and numerous extended family members.

She was preceded in death by son, Patrick J. Marince Jr; a sister, Judith D.  Phillips, a brother, James Hudson and a son-in-law, Robert Zekan.

She was a 1953 graduate of the former Philipsburg High School.

As a devoted and loving daughter, sister, mother and grandma, she taught her family how to deeply love God and each other. She found joy in spending time with her family and supporting them in their interests by attending sporting events, musicals or just walking the beach to collect shells.

Through the years, she was blessed to take many adventures with her sister, Shirley, share the love of crocheting with her sister, Judy, and the joy of a good cup of coffee with her brother, Jim.

Betty was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Philipsburg where she dedicated many hours to teaching others about God, the Bible, and faith as a women’s Sunday school guide.

She had many interests throughout her lifetime including being an avid reader, belonging to many organizations, and watching as many Steelers games as she could. Every game she would make sure to text her family and provide updates while sporting her jersey.

Betty undoubtedly made an impact on many and will be missed greatly by her community, friends, and her loving family.

A memorial service will be held at Grace United Methodist Church, 912 E. Pine Street Philipsburg, on Saturday March 16, 2024, at 11:30 a.m., with Pastor Samantha McElwee, officiating.

There will be a luncheon following the service at Hope Fire Co.  Recreation Center, 500 N. 6 th St, Philipsburg, PA 16866.

Interment will be in Philipsburg Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Betty’s memory to Lady Mountie Basketball in care of CNB Bank, 117 E Presqueisle St.,  Philipsburg, PA 16866
