Mary Jo Mandel
Mary Jo Mandel, 85, of Philipsburg, PA, died on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Penn Highlands, DuBois, PA.
Born on December 22, 1928 in Lumber City, PA, she was the daughter of the late Sheridan and Josephine (Wise) McKeown. She married Raymond Mandel on June 18, 1955 in Grampian, PA; he preceded her in death on February 26, 1993.
Mrs. Mandel was a member of the Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Philipsburg, PA. She was a registered nurse having worked at the Philipsburg State General Hospital and later for the Clearfield Home Health until retiring. Mrs. Mandel was a 1947 graduate of the Saint Francis High School in Clearfield, PA, and a 1950 graduate of the Philipsburg State General Hospital School of Nursing.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, James McKeown, Patrick McKeown, and John “Barry” McKeown.
Mrs. Mandel is survived by: a sister Leah Quarry of Grampian, PA; several nieces and nephews; and a cousin to whom she was especially close, Janice Knight and her husband, Ron of Sugar Loaf, PA.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 East Spruce Street, Philipsburg, PA. Burial will be at the Saint Bonaventure Cemetery, Grampian, PA.
Visitation will be on Saturday, May 24 from 9 – 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
