Bertram F. “Bert” Majewsky

Bertram F. “Bert” Majewsky, 89, of Houtzdale, died Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at his residence.

Bert was born on July 19, 1933, in (Whiteside) RD Houtzdale, a son of the late Benjamin and Anna (Kawa) Majewsky.

He was Catholic by faith.

Image of the US Army SealBert served with the US Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Houtzdale American Legion, Freeberg Post #591.

During his working career, Bert was employed for many years as a heavy equipment operator and as a foreman for the former Avery Coal Company. He was also employed with the former Power Operating Company until his retirement in 1997.

Bert was married on February 23, 1957, at the First Baptist Church, Philipsburg, to the former Jeanette I. Clark, who preceded him in death on January 19, 2008.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Regina Zemanek; four brothers: Joseph, Edmond, Bernard “John” and Alfred Majewsky; in  addition to his parents and his wife, Jeanette.

He was the last of his generation.

Bert is survived by a daughter, Robin A. Dixon and her companion, Brett Sonnenberg, of Clearfield; two sons, Richard A. Majewsky and his wife, Machelle, of Fayetteville, Georgia and Ronald A. Majewsky and his wife, Rhonda, of Houtzdale; four grandchildren: Valerie Dixon, of Reisterstown, Maryland, Autumn (Dixon) Kasubick and her husband, Justin, of Shiremanstown, Stewart Majewsky, of Osceola Mills and Rachel Majewsky, of Houtzdale; three step-grandchildren: Katy Smith and her husband, Robert, of Houtzdale, Josh Linn, of Pensacola, Florida and Rebecca Rice and her husband, Zachary, of Fayetteville, Georgia; one great-grandchild, Marcy Rodriguez of Reisterstown MD, four step-great-grandchildren: J.C. and Levi Smith and Bentley and Brayden Rice; a former son-in-law, Rick Dixon, of DuBois; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

Bert enjoyed spending time with friends and family, and sharing his 1923 Model T Ford with them.

A funeral service will be held at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg, on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at  1 pm  with Pastor Kevin Howard, officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, April 14, 2023, from 6 to 8 pm; and on Saturday from 11 am until the time of the service.

Military Honors will be accorded at the funeral home by the Houtzdale American Legion Honor Guard.

Interment will be in Philipsburg Cemetery.
