Mona Rae Kolesar

Mona Rae Kolesar, 81, of Philipsburg, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2022, at her residence.

Mona Rae was born on October 24, 1940, in Clearfield, a daughter of the late Charles A.(Sr.) and Vivian (Rhinehart) English.

She was a graduate of the Clearfield Area High School.

Mona Rae was married on May 14, 1960, in Winchester, Virginia, to Melvin J. Kolesar, Sr., who preceded her in death on March 22, 2011.

Shortly after Mona and Melvin were married, they moved to the Levittown (Pa) area where they spent most of their working careers and raising a family. During her working career, Mona was employed with a few manufacturing companies including; Lennox, Globe Weis and Masel. Upon retirement, Mona and her late husband, Melvin, returned to the Philipsburg area.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Melvin Kolesar, Jr. and Michael Kolesar ; a daughter-in-law, Geraldine Go Kolesar; two sisters, Sylvia “Pat” Kitko and Alberta “Joan” Stephens; and one brother, Charles A. “Chuck” English, Jr.; in addition to her parents and husband.

She is survived by two daughters, Margaret A. Upcavage and her husband, Joseph, of Levittown and Millissa J. Bongartz and her husband, Frank, of Estepona, Spain; two sons, Matthew C. Kolesar and his wife, Gina, of Levittown and Mark A. Kolesar, of Port Matilda; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, James English and his wife, Janet, of Wallaceton, Howard English and his wife Diane of Bigler and Michael English and his wife “OJ” of North Carolina; and numerous other extended family members.

Mona Rae was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. Visits with her would be described as a ray of sunshine, no matter what was going on.  She possessed  a wealth of wisdom  and would constantly share her knowledge and life experiences with her children and grandchildren.  She will truly be missed but we, her family, know she is, and always will be with us.

A funeral service will be held at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 719 E. Spruce Street, Philipsburg, on Friday, July 22, 2022, at Noon, with Rev. Michael Pleva, officiating.

A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 10 am until the time of the service.

Interment will be in SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, RD Philipsburg.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mona’s memory to the charity of the donor’s choice.
