Marjorie P. (Vaughn) Knepp, 66, of Philipsburg, died Monday, June 20, 2022, at her residence

Marjorie was born on March 20, 1956, in Philipsburg, a daughter of the late Harold E. Vaughn and Jennie Mae (Goss) Vaughn.

Marjorie was baptized and raised in the Calvary United Methodist Church, West Decatur.

She was a 1974 graduate of the Philipsburg-Osceola Area High School. She furthered her education and graduated from the South Hills Business College, Professional Clerical Program in 1978.

Early in her working career, she was employed as a seamstress with Charles Navasky & Co., of Philipsburg.

Image of the US Air Force SealShe then placed her civilian career on hold and enlisted in the US Air Force. She served with the USAF as an administrative clerk from 1980 to 1986. Her service included assignments at Air Force bases in California and Missouri.

Following her service in the Air Force, Marjorie was employed with the Rival Company at their manufacturing facility in Sedalia, Missouri. While in Missouri, she attended State Fair Community College and completed their Legal Office Program in 1988.

Marjorie returned to Pennsylvania and accepted a Corrections Officer position with the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, Quehanna Boot Camp facility. She then took a position as a security officer at the former Cresson Secure Treatment Unit. Following her time in Cresson, she accepted a Corrections Officer position at SCI Huntingdon. Later in her career, she was employed as a security officer with PPG at their Tipton, Pa facility. She remained with PPG until her retirement.

Marjorie was married on September 4, 1993, in Gethsemane United Methodist Church, Allport, Pa, to Jeffrey L. Knepp, who survives at home.

She is also survived by a daughter, Alexis L. VanBuren and her husband, Ronald, of Bellwood; two sons, Brandon E. Tubbs and his wife, Rita, of Spruce Creek and Kyle J. Knepp, of Philipsburg; two step-daughters, Erin Williams and her husband, Jim, of Altoona and Jenna L. Bickford and her husband, Josh, of Erie; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; eight step great-grandchildren; two sisters, Brenda Hohman and her husband, Paul, of (Gearhartville) RD Philipsburg and Donna J. Schwartz, of Athens, Georgia and Donna’s former husband, H. Samuel Schwartz, of Florida; one half-sister, Candy M. Vaughn, of Hyde; one brother, Timothy M. Vaughn and his wife, Tracy, of Supply, North Carolina; five half-brothers: Harold W. Vaughn, III, Timothy E. Vaughn, II, Donald L. Vaughn, II, Dana N. Vaughn and Dean S. Vaughn, all of Philipsburg; an aunt, Leah Waring and her husband, Luther, of Carlisle; her father and mother-in-law, Robert L. Knepp, of Philipsburg and Shirley L. (Swatsworth) Knepp, of Allport; and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

Marjorie was preceded in death by one brother, H. Randall Vaughn; and three uncles: Donald R. Vaughn, C. Earle Barger and William C. Goss, in addition to her parents.

A funeral service will be held at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg, on Friday, June 24, 2022, at 11am, with Pastor Tavis Stauffer, officiating.

The visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday, June 23, 2022, from 5 until 8 pm.

Military Honors will be accorded by the Philipsburg American Legion Honor Guard on Friday, at 10:50 am at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Centre Cemetery, RD Osceola Mills.

The family will be hosting a luncheon at the Gearhartville Sportsmen’s Club immediately following the service.
