Lillian Ruth (Humphrey) Hockenburry, 92, of Chester Hill, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2018, at Windy Hill Village, PSL, Philipsburg.

She was born on September 19, 1925, in Philipsburg, a daughter of the late Charles and Ruth (Wain) Humphrey.

Lillian was a 1943 graduate of the former Philipsburg High School. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Philipsburg; and attended the First Church of Christ, RD Philipsburg, when she was still in good health. She was also a member of the Philipsburg AMVETS Post 159, Ladies Auxiliary.

Lillian’s first job was working as a plasterer with her father. She was then employed with Western Union during the World War II era; often making her deliveries on her bicycle. Lillian was then employed for 18 years with the Presbyterian Home of the Moshannon Valley / Windy Hill Village. She was then employed at the North Lincoln Hill Campus of the Philipsburg – Osceola Area School District and delivered The Progress in the Chester Hill area until her ill health required her retirement.

Lillian enjoyed riding her bike, swimming with her grandchildren and going to Silver Sneakers at the Moshannon Valley YMCA. She also enjoyed traveling. Lillian made many trips with her fellow WPHB listeners, in addition to her own self-guided tour of Italy.

She is survived by three daughters: Sue Webster and her husband, Dennis, of Chester Hill, Sally Sakosky, of Grass Valley, California and Patty Quick and her husband, Richard, of Blairsville; one son, Michael Sakosky and his companion, Irma, of San Antonio, Texas; seven grandchildren: Nathan Webster and his wife, Shannon, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Josh Webster and his companion, Shenna, of Philipsburg, Maxwell Ka, of Grass Valley, Calif., Michael Sakosky and his wife, Kimberly and Brian Sakosky, all of Dayton, Ohio, and Richard and Tabatha Quick, both of Blairsville; six great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members.

Lillian was preceded in death by one brother, Harlan Humphrey, in addition to her parents. She was the last of her generation.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 from 6 to 8 pm, at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce Street, Philipsburg. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Interment will be in Philipsburg Cemetery.
