George R. Hemmert

George R. Hemmert, 75, of Tyrone, and formerly of Philadelphia, died on Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at Epworth Manor Senior Living, Tyrone.

George was born on February 18, 1945, in Philadelphia, a son of the late Jack and Genevieve (Duffield) Hemmert.

George was a Christian.

Soon after graduating from high school, George went to work for Rohm & Haas Chemical Co. (now Dow Chemical Co), in Philadelphia. George spent most of his working career at this facility. Later in his career, he transferred to the company’s Bristol, (Pa) plant, where he would remain until his retirement.

George spent his retirement years first in Ocean City, Maryland and then in Cape Coral, Florida. He enjoyed boating and had a passion for cars, motorcycles and living life to the fullest.

George is survived by a daughter, Jennifer L. Urbanik and her husband, Jason, of Philipsburg; a son, George R. Hemmert, Jr. and his wife, Judy, of Townsend, Delaware; three granddaughters: Madeline, Kayla and Marissa Hemmert, all of Townsend; one brother, Jack Hemmert, Jr. and his wife, Doris, of Philadelphia; his faithful and beloved four-legged companion, Fidel; and numerous other extended family members.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Janet Hemmert, in addition to his parents.

Services will be at the convenience of the family.
