Ruth E. (Bryan) Harkless

Ruth E. (Bryan) Harkless, 83, of Akron, Ohio, died Thursday, December 20, 2018, at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Donna Harkless, of New Philadelphia, Ohio.

Ruth was born on June 10, 1935, in Philipsburg, a daughter of the late Warren and Minnie Bryan.

Ruth was of the Christian faith.

She was married on September 8, 1950, in Osceola Mills, to Andrew Harkless, who preceded her in death on June 27, 2014.

She was also preceded in death by an infant son; a granddaughter, Sara Baer; an infant sister, Mary Bryan; and two brothers, Kenneth and William “Peck” Bryan.

Ruth is survived by three daughters: Ruth Ann Baer, Gloria Escajeda and her husband, Richard “Rick” and Mary Jane Walker, all of Thomasville, North Carolina; one son, Andrew L. Harkless and his wife, Donna, of New Philadelphia, Ohio; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

When her children were younger, Ruth and her family enjoyed returning to Philipsburg to vacation. She also enjoyed camping, cooking and cleaning.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 28, 2018, at 1 pm, at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 719 E. Spruce Street, Philipsburg, with Clay Gilham, officiating.

Visitation will be on Thursday, December 27, 2018, from 6 to 8 pm; and on Friday, from 11 am until the time of the service, at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Philipsburg Cemetery.
