Esther M. Hamaty

Esther M. Hamaty, 72, formerly of Philipsburg (Sleepy Hollow), died Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at Wynwood House at Salem Hill, Spring Mills, PA.

Esther was born on May 24, 1948, in Philipsburg, a daughter of the late Gabriel R. and Henrietta E. (McGonigal) Ellis.

Esther was a 1966 graduate of the Philipsburg-Osceola Area High School. She was employed during her working career in the housekeeping department at Clearfield Hospital.

She was a member of the New Beginnings Baptist Church, Osceola Mills.

Esther was married on September 14, 1966, at the First Presbyterian Church, Philipsburg, to Robert L. “Bob” Hamaty, who preceded her in death on October 7, 2012.

Esther is survived by a daughter, Lorie A. Stake and her husband, Kenneth, of Dillsburg, a son, Thomas L. Hamaty and his wife, Paula, of Bellefonte; four grandchildren: Alyssa Hamaty, of Washington, D.C., Megan Hamaty, of Bellefonte, Noah and Ryan Stake, both of Dillsburg; one brother, Robert G. Ellis, of Mifflinburg; and numerous other extended family members.

A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Interment will be in Philipsburg Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Esther’s memory to the Grane Hospice Care, 115 Union Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602.
