Photo of Betty FryBetty M. Fry, 98, of Philipsburg, died Friday, January 22, 2021, at Mountain Laurel Health & Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.

Betty was born on May 6, 1922, in West Decatur, a daughter of the late Roland and Bertha Mae (Fleck) Smeal.

Betty was of the Methodist faith. She was a dedicated homemaker and loved spending time with her family and friends. She was an avid bingo player. She and her friends would often play several nights a week. They would also go on an occasional “bingo bus trip.” She enjoyed watching tv whether it was baseball, football, or some tv game shows like “Wheel of Fortune” or “Jeopardy.” She was an avid fan of Penn State football; especially during the Joe Paterno era. She enjoyed watching his antics as he paced up and down the sidelines.

Betty was married on February 15, 1941, in Cumberland, Maryland, to Richard T. Fry, who preceded her in death on December 1, 1982.

She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Donna Bloom and Cheryl Yingling; one son, Richard L. Fry; one infant grandson; two sisters, Margaret Smeal and Jane Bryan; and three brothers: Oliver “Pete” Smeal, Roy “Jim” Smeal and George “Dick” Smeal.

She is survived by two daughters, Arlene M. Feldbauer and Darlene J. Fry, both of Philipsburg; one son, Robert J. Fry, of State College; numerous grandchildren, including, Ashley, Bill, George and Gary (twin brothers), Chris, Gina, Shawna, Josh, Jamie, Tina, James, and Richard (from Philipsburg) and Richard (from Connecticut); numerous great-grandchildren, including, Parker, Jen, Zoey, Julia, Cooper, Derek, Megan, Alex and Ethan; one sister, Linda Pelton and her husband, Thomas, of Morrisdale; one brother, Edward Smeal and his wife, Anna Mae, of Houtzdale; and numerous other extended family members.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm, at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 719 E. Spruce Street, Philipsburg.

The funeral service will be at the funeral home on Thursday, January 28, 2021, at 11 am, with Pastor Noel Meyers, officiating.

Interment will be in Philipsburg Cemetery.
