Joyce Fowler

Joyce Fowler, 78, of (Gearhartville) RD Philipsburg, died Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at Mountain Laurel Health & Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.

Joyce was born on July 17, 1943, in Mountain City, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Joseph B. and Hazel K. (King) Snyder.

Joyce was a 1961 graduate of the Johnson County High School. During her high school years, she received numerous awards, accolades and she was an accomplished pianist for her age.

During her working career, she was employed as a cook with the Philipsburg-Osceola Area School District. She retired as the head cook of the former 9th. Street School.

Joyce was very active with the area Girl Scouts during the 1970’s. She was awarded Leader of the Year for her dedication and contributions to the Girl Scouts.

Joyce was married on December 28, 1961, in Mountain City, Tennessee, to David A. Fowler, who survives at home.

She is also survived by two daughters, Tammy E. Fowler, of Pittsburgh and Cindy L. Gearhart and her husband, Robert “Bubba,” of Philipsburg; four grandchildren: Kelly L. Gearhart (Andy Georgino), Robert T. “Bobby” Gearhart, Jr., Matti L. Musser (Brandon Yeager) and Morgan L. Musser (David Estright); five great-grandchildren; and numerous other extended family members.

A funeral service will be held at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg, on Monday, March 7, 2022 at 1 pm, with John T. “Jack” Fowler, officiating.

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 10 am until the time of the service.
Interment will be in Philipsburg Cemetery.
