James S. “Jim” Force, 87, of Philipsburg, died Monday, December 20, 2021, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Jim was born on August 17, 1934, in Philipsburg, a son of the late Carl E. and Anna (Lyncha) Force.

Jim was a 1952 graduate of the former Cooper Township High School. He enlisted with the US Air Force in January 1954 and served during the Korean War era and the Suez Canal Crisis.

He was married on October 24, 1959, in Grassflat, to the former Nancy L. Robinson, who preceded him in death on June 24, 2002.

During his working career, Jim was employed with the US Postal Service and retired after 15 years of service. Following his retirement from the USPS, he was employed as a delivery driver with the Moshannon Valley Pharmacy.

Jim was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Philipsburg, for many years; and more recently, a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Osceola Mills. He was also a member of the Philipsburg American Legion, Post #437; and a member of the “American Diner Coffee Club.”

Jim was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon L. Force, in addition to his wife, Nancy.

Jim is survived by two daughters, Anita M. Tibbens, of Osceola Mills and Carla J. Harvey, of Sarasota, Florida; two sons, Ronald S. Force, of Bloomsburg and James M. Force (Nicole), of Philipsburg; two sisters, Marlene Matsko (Mike), of Clearfield and June Gurbal (Daryl), of Grassflat; seven grandchildren: Jessica Wagner (Bob), Josh, Ray, Nickolas and John Force and Colin and Alexis Harvey; his beloved German Shepherd, Heidi; and numerous other extended family members and dear friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at 2 pm, at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 719 E., Spruce St., Philipsburg, with Deacon Dennis Socash, officiating. Following the memorial service, Military Honors will be accorded at the funeral home by the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends on Saturday at the funeral home from 11am until the time of the memorial service.
