Alfred J. “Duke” “Unk” Fetcenko

Alfred J. “Duke” or “Unk” Fetcenko, 83, of Hawk Run, died Saturday, February 6, 2021, at his residence.

Alfred was born on April 5, 1937, in Hawk Run, a son of the late John and Marion (Coval) Fetcenko.

He was a graduate of the former Morris Township High School. Duke was employed early in his career with the former General Cigar plant in (North) Philipsburg. He spent most of this working career as a construction worker. Later in his career, he was employed briefly with the OPP Department at Penn State.

Duke was an US Army veteran. He was also a member of the Mosquito Creek Sportsmen’s Assoc., Inc.Image of the US Army Seal and a 30-year member of the NRA.

Duke was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also enjoyed the outdoors and maintaining his lawn and a pristine garden.

Duke was married on October 28, 1963, in Winchester, Virginia, to the former Betty J. “Sis” Lockey, who preceded him in death on August 1, 2019.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Susan M. Fetcenko.

He is survived by a daughter, JoAnne M. Whitehead, and her husband, Bill, of Hawk Run; a son, Jeffrey L. Fetcenko, of Hawk Run; and a number of extended family members.

A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Military Honors will be accorded by the Philipsburg American Legion Honor Guard.

Interment will be in Philipsburg Cemetery.
