Richard Dennis “Denny” Dixon

Richard Dennis “Denny” Dixon, 76, of Philipsburg, died on Thursday, August 24, 2023, after an extended illness.
Denny was born January 15, 1947, in the Philipsburg State General Hospital, Philipsburg, a son of the late Raymond E. Dixon and Betty (Ashworth) Dixon, of Osceola Mills.

He was a 1964 graduate of Philipsburg-Osceola Area High School and a 1968 graduate of the Pennsylvania State University.

Denny married Kathy (Small) Dixon, on November 23, 1968, in Philipsburg.

Image of the US Army SealHe served as an Army Second Lieutenant in the artillery during the Vietnam War. After his army service, Denny worked as a meteorologist (his true passion) and later as a software technical writer. A longtime resident of Littleton, Mass., he and his wife Kathy retired to Philipsburg. Denny forecasted the weather for Black Moshannon State Park for several years post-retirement.

In addition to his wife, Kathy, Denny is survived by his three children: John Dixon and his wife, Bonnie, of Fulton, Md., Elizabeth Murphy and her husband Brian, of Pepperell, Mass. and Christian Dixon of Littleton, Mass.; four grandchildren: Julia and Ethan Dixon, Madigan and Jack Murphy; two siblings, Mark Dixon and his wife, Barbara, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Joan Loewen & Phil of Lewistown, (Pa); and a brother-in-law, John Small of Philipsburg.

The family will receive friends at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg, on Sunday, August 27, 2023, from 2 to 4 pm.

A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 406 E. Presqueisle St., Philipsburg, Pa, on Monday, August 28, 2023, at 11 am, with Rev. Robert McKay, IV, officiating.

Interment will be in Ashcroft Cemetery, Hawk Run.
