Carol “Carl” Demchak

Carol “Carl” Demchak, 86, of (North) Philipsburg, died Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Cedarwood Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center, Tyrone.

Carol was born on January 23, 1938, in (North) Philipsburg, a son of the late George and Mary (Lucak) Demchak.

He was a graduate of the former Philipsburg High School.

Although he never had any formal education following high school, he enjoyed a long and accomplished career as a bricklayer and stonemason.

He was married on January 8, 1970, in Philipsburg, to the former Georgia L. Long, who survives at home.

He is also survived by a sister, Suzanna Demchak, of Mechanicsburg; two sisters-in-law, Monty Demchak, of Cleveland, Ohio and Renee Johnstonbaugh, of Hawk Run; and numerous other extended family members.

Carol was preceded in death by a sister, Christine Demchak; eight brothers: George “Jake,” John, Joseph, Theodore “Ted,” Eugene “Husk,” Stephen, Mike and Sam Demchak; a niece, Terri Demchak; and four nephews: Terry Carl Hickman, James Demchak, Mark Demchak and John Demchak.

He was a member of  the Nativity of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, Chester Hill; a Life Member of the Hope Fire Co. #2 and a Life Member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge & Country Club, Lodge # 1173, both of Philipsburg.

Among his favorite pastimes when he was younger, Carol enjoyed hunting and fishing.

A funeral service will be held at the First Church of Christ, 1437 Tyrone Pike, Philipsburg, on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 1 pm, with Pastor Ryan Parish, officiating.

A visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 10 am until the time of the service.

An Elks Memorial Service will be held at the church on Saturday and will immediately follow the church service.

Interment will be in Nativity of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Cemetery, (Hudson) RD Philipsburg.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Philipsburg.
