Letha M. “Tubby” Dawes

Letha M. “Tubby” Dawes, 71, of Winburne, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 2, 2019, at her residence surrounded by family.

Letha was born on January 7, 1948, in New Garden, a daughter of the late Ralph and Amanda (Teats) Gaines.

She was married on January 17, 1970, in Karthaus, to the love of her life, James A. Dawes, Sr., who survives at home.

Letha is also survived by one son, James A. Dawes, Jr. and his wife, Anna, of Morrisdale; two daughters, Billie Jo Hoopsick and her husband, Ronald and Bobbie Jo Dawes, all of Winburne; four grandchildren: Cheyenne Cantara and her husband, Roger, of Winburne, Trixie Brown, of Winburne, Carl Dawes and his girlfriend, Jalynn Scaife, of Morrisdale and Andrew Dawes, of Morrisdale; three great-grandchildren: Izibella, Samuel and Carrigan Cantara, all of Winburne; one sister, Betty McGovern, of Winburne; one brother Carl Gaines, of Clearfield; and numerous other extended family members. She is also survived by her four-legged best friend, “Frankie”, a Chihuahua mix; and three gathered grandchildren: Gerika Gallagher and her fiancé, Tyler Treen, of Lima, Ohio, Samantha Elwood and her husband, Justin, of Isle La Mont, Vermont and Ryan Foster, of Winburne.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Chelsie M. Brown; three brothers, Bernard, John, and Jim Gaines; and one son-in-law, James R. Brown, in addition to her parents.

Letha was a dedicated homemaker; raising three children and two grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her family, eating out and going on rides with her husband.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 7, 2019, at 12 Noon, at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 719 E. Spruce Street, Philipsburg, with Pastor James Hollister, officiating.

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday, from 10 am until the time of the service.

Interment will be in Messiah Baptist Cemetery, Lanse.
