Photo of Frank DankoFrank A. Danko, 87,  of Hawk Run, PA died on Friday, May 9, 2014 at his residence.

Born on December 25, 1926 in Grassflat, PA, he was the son of the late John & Mary (Belko) Danko.  He married the former Stephina I. Pollock on September 30, 1950 at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Hawk Run, PA; she preceded him in death on December 18, 2012.

Image of the US Army SealMr. Danko was a member of Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Hawk Run, PA and was a past president of the First Catholic Slovak Union, Branch 456 in Hawk Run.  He was an army veteran of W.W.II and a member of the American Legion Post #813 in Clarence, PA.  Until his retirement in 1988, he was employed with the maintenance department at Penn State.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by: an infant son, Jerome; a son-in-law, Brian Ward; four sisters, Mary Pollock; Anna Tekely, Elizabeth Panik and Pauline Coval; and six brothers, John, Andrew, Steven, George, Joseph and Emro Danko.  He was the last of his generation.

Mr. Danko is survived by: a daughter, Brenda A. Ward of Hawk Run, PA; a son, Bernard J. Danko & his wife Shirley of Duncannon, PA; eight grandchildren, Jeremy Danko & his wife Amy of Reading, PA, Michael Danko & his wife Jennifer of Glen Burnie, MD, Kenneth Danko & his wife Jennifer of Newport, PA, Melissa Lusk & her husband Joshua of King of Prussia, PA, and Samantha, Jason, Thomas, & Allison Ward, all of Hawk Run; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces & nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Hawk Run, PA; with Rev. Robert J. Horgas, Celebrant.  Burial will be at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Hawk Run, PA.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 13, 2014 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home in Philipsburg,

The rosary will be recited on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Military Honors will be accorded at the cemetery by members of the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard.
