Leonard G. “Pops” Dailey, Sr.

Leonard G. “Pops” Dailey, Sr., 59, of  Chester Hill and formerly of Arkansas and Texas, died Thursday, November 2, 2023, at his residence.

Leonard was born on April 2, 1964, in Dallas County, Texas, a son of the late Leonard Gordon and Betty Ann (Turney) Kelley; and his adopted mother, the late Pearl Evans.

Leonard, affectionately known by his family as “Pops,” was married on July 1, 1989, in Gun Barrel City, Texas, to the former Danielle Lea Stephens, who survives at home.

He is also survived by two daughters: Dawn (Stiner) Hampton and Alyssa Nicole Dailey (Dustin Wheeland), all of Philipsburg; two sons, Leonard Gordon Dailey, Jr. (Brittney Ann Smarsh), of Chester Hill and Richard Charles Franklin Dailey (Stephanie Johnson), of Woodbury; two grandchildren, Damien Reece, of Arkansas and Ezekiel Charles Cecil Dailey, of Woodbury; one sister, Phyllis Smith (Rob), of Lone Grove, Oklahoma; three brothers: Donald Hazel (Kathy), of Allport, Bill Hazel, of Allport and Denny Dailey (Amber Love), of Oklahoma; and numerous other extended family members.

Leonard was employed with a number of businesses throughout his working career; and he was known to be a very good mechanic. Among his favorite pastimes, he enjoyed listening to the radio and fishing.

A celebration of life will be held for “Pops” at the Philipsburg American Legion on Thursday, November 30, 2023, beginning at 2 pm.

Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made in Leonard’s memory to the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 719 E. Spruce Street, Philipsburg, Pa  16866.
