Robert L. “Toby” Culp

Philipsburg – Robert L. “Toby” Culp, 83, passed away on January 13, 2022, at Eagle Valley Personal Care Home in Milesburg.

He was born on August 17, 1938, in Philipsburg, a son of the late Lee and Susan (Desso) Culp.

He was married on November 28, 1968, in Drifting, to the former Martha J. Zetts, who survives at home.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved Aunt Elizabeth “Booke” Culp who helped raise him; one brother, Larry “Peanut” Culp and two sisters, Virginia “Ginny” Lamb and Patricia Luther.

Along with his wife, he is survived by two sons, Robert A. Culp and Jonathan Culp and his wife Lindsay; one grandson, Eli Culp; two sisters, Elizabeth “Betty Jo” Earnest and Carol Ipock and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was a member of Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Philipsburg.

Toby was a 1956 graduate of the former Philipsburg High School.
He served with the US Army. He was employed with Stott Coal and Image of the US Army SealPennsylvania Mining Services until his retirement on Sept 28, 2012.

Toby enjoyed going to McDonalds almost daily with his group of friends; playing fast pitch softball; bowling; taking long walks through town; going on bus trips with his wife, Martha and his sister, Patricia and most of all, spending time with his family. Toby was a big sports fan. He loved going to Penn State football games with his friends, Philipsburg Osceola Girls’ Softball games and was a lifelong fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Toby had a kind soul and would do anything for his family. He will be deeply missed.
The family would like to thank the staff of Eagle Valley Personal Care Home for caring for Toby and Martha.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at 1:30 pm, at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 400 S. 4th. Street, Philipsburg, with Rev. Michael Pleva, celebrant.

Visitation will be at church on Tuesday, from 10am until the time of the Funeral Mass.

Interment will be in SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, RD Philipsburg.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Philipsburg.
