Melissa Jean Crawshaw

Melissa “Jean” Crawshaw, 86, of Philipsburg, died Christmas Day, December 25, 2021, at Embassy of Hearthside, State College.

Jean was born on March 6, 1935, in Philipsburg, a daughter of the late James H. and Melissa (Frank) Crawshaw.

Jean was a graduate of the former Philipsburg High School.

During her working career, she was a co-owner of the “Fashion Shoppe,” formerly located on Front Street in Philipsburg. She was also employed as a switchboard operator with the former Philipsburg State General Hospital until her retirement. Following her retirement from the hospital, she was employed as a bus driver for the Philipsburg-Osceola Area School District.

Jean was a member of the First Church of Christ, RD Philipsburg. She was also a member of the former Philipsburg Country Club and the Philipsburg Elks Lodge and Country Club, Lodge #1173. During a span of thirty years from the the 1960’s through the 1980’s, Jean won 15 club championships at the Philipsburg Country Club.

Jean was preceded in death by a niece, Rebecca S. Molinaro and a brother, James F. Crawshaw, in addition to her parents.

She is survived by two nieces, Pamela J. Hawkins and her husband, Richard Klock, of Henderson, Nevada and Lynne M. Hixson and her husband, Richard, of Crystal Spring, PA; and a nephew, James S. Crawshaw and his wife, Gwendolyn, of Henderson, Nevada.

Services will be at the convenience of the family.

Interment will be in Philipsburg Cemetery.
