Patrick E. “Pat” Couturiaux

Patrick E. “Pat” Couturiaux, 86, of (Black Moshannon) RD Philipsburg, died Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at the Hollidaysburg Veterans’ Home, Hollidaysburg.

Pat was born on July 26, 1932, in Philipsburg, a son of the late Lewis T. and Catherine A. (Dickson) Couturiaux.

Pat was baptized and raised in the Methodist faith. He was a 1950 graduate of the former Philipsburg High School.Image of the US Army Seal Following high school, he served with the US Army during the Korean War era.

Early in Pat’s working career, he was an independent long-haul truck driver. However, for most of his career, he was employed as a heavy equipment operator with the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 66, Pittsburgh.

Pat would probably be best known, on a local level, as having served as a former Rush Township Supervisor from 1985 until 2015. He also held the position of Roadmaster for a portion of the thirty years he served as supervisor. Pat also served as a board member for the former Philipsburg Area Hospital.

Pat was married on October 27, 1956, in Cumberland, Maryland, to the former Kathryn E. Good, who preceded him in death on February 13, 2015.

He is also survived by: two daughters, Jacquie Lewis and her husband, Denny, of (North) Philipsburg and Suzette Brabham of Mt. Airy, Maryland; two sons, Duane Couturiaux and his wife, Amber, of Munson and Vic Couturiaux and his wife, Theresa, of (Troy) RD Philipsburg; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Sandra Bordas and her husband, John, of (North) Philipsburg; and numerous other extended family members.

Pat was preceded in death by one son, Patrick T. Couturiaux; a granddaughter, Danielle Olivia Lewis; two brothers, Ronald and Manuel L. Couturiaux; and one sister, RoseAnna Adamson.

A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Military Honors will be accorded at the funeral home by the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard.

Interment will be in Philipsburg Cemetery.

The funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 719 E. Spruce Street, Philipsburg.
