Elaine Lorena Chutko

Elaine Lorena Chutko, 91, formerly of Hawk Run, died Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at Hillview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Altoona.

Elaine was born on April 5, 1928, in Morrisdale, a daughter of the late Lloyd and Nellie (Krise) Burge.

She was a graduate of the former Morris Township High School.

She was a member of Nativity of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, Chester Hill. She was an active member of her church and served on the church board for numerous years.

Elaine was employed throughout her working career with the former Philipsburg General Cigar plant. She retired as a floor supervisor after 30 years of service.

Elaine was married on January 9, 1948, to Matthew Chutko, who preceded her in death on August 3, 1979.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Charlotte Switzer and Genevieve Pollock; one brother, Raymond Burge; and two sons-in-law, Dr. Daniel M. Friday and John Dunlap; in addition to her parents and husband.

Elaine is survived by three daughters: Maria Friday Wiegering and her husband, Dr. Carlos Wiegering, of Hollidaysburg, Martha Dunlap, of Pittsburgh and Annette Maxwell and her husband, Wayne Maxwell, of Tampa, Florida; four grandchildren: Tiffany Friday Murray and her husband, Josiah, John Dunlap and his wife, Piper, Julie Jordin and her husband, John, and Sarah Dunlap; five great-grandchildren: Daniel and Tucker Murray, Jacqueline and John Jordin and Charlsie Dunlap; one sister, Betty Reichenbach; and numerous other extended family members.

Elaine led an active life outside the home. She volunteered at the Philipsburg Senior Center; she enjoyed playing bingo, traveling, music, square dancing and she was an avid reader. However, her favorite pastime was going out dancing.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 6, 2019, at 11 am, at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 719 E. Spruce Street, Philipsburg, with Fr. Michael Simerick, officiating.

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 10 am until the time of the service.

Interment will be in the Nativity of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Cemetery, Hudson, RD Philipsburg.
