Rudolph Carl “Rudy” Chrobak

Rudolph Carl “Rudy” Chrobak, 93, of Schuyler, NY, and formerly of Philipsburg, Pa, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at the Waterville Residential Care Center, Waterville, NY.

Image of the US Air Force SealRudolph was born in McKeesport, Pa. on October 7, 1929, the son of Rudolph C. and Barbara (Reho) Chrobak. Rudolph served in the Air Force as an Airman Electrical Mechanic and was stationed in Japan during the Korean War. He then worked for the Air Force and the FAA for 32 years and retired in 1981.

Rudy was united in marriage with Shirley Ann (McGahan) Chrobak, on July 14, 1956,  in Etna, Pa; and they moved to Philipsburg, Pa where they had two sons. They later moved to Utica, NY to be closer to their oldest son and four grandchildren. He and Shirley cherished their time with them, attending all of their sporting events all the way through their college experiences.  They also enjoyed the many vacations spent at his favorite spot, Myrtle Beach.  Rudy battled some medical conditions over the past few years; and missed not having the ability to do the things he loved, especially hunting and fishing.  He was a guy who could fix anything, was always positive and loved by everyone who met him right up until the end. Through all of his trials, he remained steadfast and kind.

Rudolph is survived by his sister, Barbara Chrobak, of Sarasota Fla.; a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin M. and Michelle (Armstrong) Chrobak, of Clinton, NY; and his cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren; Ryan Chrobak, his wife, Meghan and their children, Braden and Kayleigh, all of Prospect, Pa; Justin Chrobak of Sarasota, Fla; Brendan Chrobak and his wife, Cynthia, of Westmoreland, NY; and Jordan Chrobak, of Oriskany Falls, NY; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Gertrude M. Idzkowski; and his youngest son, Terrence C. Chrobak.
