John A. Chieppor

John A. Chieppor, 92, of Philipsburg, died Monday, June 12, 2023, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.

John was born on July 3, 1930, in Philipsburg, the son of the late Michael and Mary Rose (Catherine) Chieppor.

John was a 1948 graduate of the former Philipsburg High School. Following high school, John served with the US Marine Corps during the Korean War.

John spent most of his working career employed as a surveyor with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. He retired from PennDOT in 1990 after 24 years of service.

He was a member of  SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Philipsburg and a Life Member of the Philipsburg VFW Post #3450.

Among his favorite pastimes, John enjoyed watching sports and he was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. John was also an accomplished Pinochle player; and had been an active member of the local Lincoln Club League.

John was married on February 2, 1963, at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Philipsburg, to the former Anna Mae Myers, who survives at home.

He is also survived by a daughter, Beth Ann Wilson and her husband, David L., of Chester Hill; two grandchildren, Mackenzie Mae Wilson, of Chester Hill and Tanner John Wilson, of Alexandria, Virginia; and numerous other extended family members.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, James C. and Alfred B. “Alf” Chieppor, in addition to his parents.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at 11 am, at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 400 S. 4th. Street, Philipsburg, with Rev. Matthias Rendon, O.F.M., celebrant.

The visitation will be on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, from 6 to 8 pm, at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 719 E. Spruce Street, Philipsburg; and at the church on Thursday, from 10 am until the time of the Mass.

The Rosary will be recited by the SS. Peter & Paul Altar / Rosary Society on Thursday at 10:30 am at the church.

Interment will be in Philipsburg Cemetery.

Military Honors will be accorded at graveside.
