Maynard D. “Dean” Carr

Maynard D. “Dean” Carr, 78, of (Gearhartville) RD Philipsburg, died Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.

Maynard was born on July 27, 1944, in Carlisle, a son of the late Marlyn G. and Virginia R. (Keller) Carr.

When Maynard was seven, he came to Philipsburg to live with his uncle and aunt, Robert and Mary Carr, who raised him as their own.

He was a 1963 graduate of the Philipsburg – Osceola Area High School.

Maynard was married on February 20, 1964, at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Philipsburg, to the former Margaret E. “Marg” Klett, who survives at home.

He was employed throughout his working career as a union journeyman electrician.

Maynard was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Philipsburg; a member of the IBEW, Local #5, Pittsburgh; and a Life Member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge and Country Club #1173, Philipsburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Helen Carr; one son, Michael J. Carr; two sisters, Frances and Shirley; and a brother, Ronald.

Maynard is survived by his wife, Margaret; a daughter, Melissa A. Krause and her husband, Jeff, of Brisbin; a son, Mark O. Carr and his wife, Lisa, of Houtzdale; four grandchildren: Alyssa, Joshua, Matthew and Alex; two great-grandchildren, Remy and Brooks; one great-granddaughter “on the way;” a step-brother, Terry Swartz, of Blain, Pa; and numerous other extended family members.

Among his favorite pastimes, Maynard enjoyed tending to his garden; going to his camp, “Iowna Camp;” and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Maynard was the kind of man that would give you “the shirt off his back.” He was always willing to help out other people. He was a best friend to many people and will be deeply missed by those who knew him.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 29, 2022, at 11 am, at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 719 E. Spruce Street, Philipsburg, with Fr. Michael Pleva, officiating.

The visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday, August 28, 2022 from 3 to 6 pm; and on Monday from 10 am until the time of the service.

Interment will be in SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, RD Philipsburg.
