Edward Brenish
Edward Brenish, 92, a resident of Knickerbocker Villa, Clearfield and formerly of Hawk Run, died Thursday, April 4, 2019, at the personal care home.
Edward was born on May 12, 1926, in Hawk Run, a son of the late John and Anna (Lefrovich) Brenish.
Edward was a graduate of the former Morris Township High School. Following high school, he entered the
US Army. Edward served with the 345th Inf. Reg., 87th. “Golden Acorn” Div. during the World war II era. Edward received several citations and decorations for his service, Including: Combat Infantry Badge, Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, Army Occupation Medal (Germany) and American Theater Ribbon. Edward was proud to have served in the Third Army during World War II under the leadership of General George Patton.
Following his military service, Edward furthered his education at Thompson Institute, York, Pa.
Edward was employed with the US government throughout his working career. He was first employed with the Veterans Administration, Washington, D.C. for a short period of time. It was during this employment that he would be recalled to active duty to serve during the Korean war era.
Edward then accepted a supply clerk position at the Mechanicsburg Naval Depot. He would spend the remainder of his thirty-year career in Mechanicsburg; and retire as a supervisor.
Edward is survived by one sister, Verna Brenish, of Philipsburg; one brother, William Brenish and his wife, Carol, of Elysburg, (Pa); and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
He was preceded in death by six sisters, Mary Ducar, Anna Scheck, Betty Brenish, Helen Cole, Margaret Wojtowich and Sophie Clark Miller; and five brothers: John, Jr., Andrew, George, Peter, and Michael Brenish, in addition to his parents.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at Noon, at St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, Hawk Run, with Fr. Peter Benyo, officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday, from 10 am until the time of the funeral service.
Interment will be St. John the Baptist Orthodox Cemetery, Hawk Run.
