Mark R. Bowman

Mark R. Bowman, 59, of West Decatur, died Thursday, September 15, 2016, in Decatur Township, Clearfield Co., as a result of a motor vehicle accident.

Born on July 8, 1957, in Clearfield, Mark was a son of the late Theodore J. & Catherine Ruth (Bateman) Bowman.

Mark was a 1975 graduate of Curwensville High School. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling from the Pennsylvania State University, University Park, Pa.

Mark was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Philipsburg. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

He was married on August 20, 1988, at the Gearhartville Free Methodist Church, RD Philipsburg, to the former Sherry A. Perks; who preceded him in death on January 18, 2015.

He was employed as a drug and alcohol counselor with the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections until his retirement from S.C.I. Rockview in 2015.

Mark is survived by two brothers, Gregory J. Bowman and his wife, Diane, of DuBois; and Jeffrey A. Bowman and his wife, Sue, of North Carolina; and a number of nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation or funeral service at the request of the family.

Interment will be at Beaver Valley Cemetery, Flinton.
