James H. Bordas

James H. Bordas, 72, of the Village of Hudson, RD Philipsburg, PA died on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at his residence after suffering from a short battle with cancer.

Born on September 8, 1942 in Scotch Hollow, RD Osceola Mills, PA, he was the son of the late Arthur L. Bordas & Christine (Botwright) Bordas Buell.  He married the former Victoria “Vickie” Butterworth on November 3, 1962 at St. Matthew’s Cathedral in Washington, DC; she survives at home.

Image of the US Air Force SealMr. Bordas was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Philipsburg, PA, where he had formerly served as a cantor.  He was a veteran of the US Air Force. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Holy Family Council # 8701 in Morrisdale and was a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, Pope John Paul II Assembly #952 in Clearfield, PA.  He was also a member of the B.P.O.Elks # 1173 in Philipsburg, PA and past Chief and former paramedic of the Chester Hill Hose Company.

From the late 1970’s into the early 1980’s, Mr. Bordas had been employed as a police officer with the former Philipsburg Police Department.  He was also employed for many years as an OTR truck driver with a number of area trucking companies, including the former Classic Motor Lines and most recently, T.L. Bainey, Inc. of West Decatur, PA.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Bordas is survived by:  four daughters, Faith Ann Maguire & her husband Joel of Philipsburg, PA, Hope C. Wrye of Hudson, RD Philipsburg, PA, Charity Granville & her husband Tom of Hudson, RD Philipsburg, PA and Patience Bailey & her husband Brian of Philipsburg, PA; a son, James J. “Jimmie Joe” Bordas & his wife Kari of Hudson, RD Philipsburg, PA; a sister Elaine Persio of Ebensburg, PA; and three brothers, Arthur Bordas & his wife Laura of Philipsburg, PA, John Bordas & his wife Sandra of Philipsburg, PA and Barry Bordas of Philipsburg, PA.  He is also survived by: seventeen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and his father-in-law, Merle Butterworth of Chester Hill, PA.

A Memorial Mass will be Celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Philipsburg, PA, with Rev. Robert J. Kelly, Celebrant.  Burial will be at the Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Philipsburg, PA.

The funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce Street, Philipsburg, PA 16866.
