Mary J. Bell

Mary J. Bell, 91 of Philipsburg, PA passed away on Monday, June 10, 2013 at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College, PA.

She was the daughter of the late George and Anna (Chicko) Gasper, born on June 15, 1921 in Kato, RD Clarence, PA.  She married  Norman J. Bell, Sr. on April 19, 1940 in Philipsburg, PA.  He preceded her in death on August 31, 1998.

Mrs. Bell was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Philipsburg.  She was also a member of the Philipsburg, V.F.W., ladies auxiliary.  She was a kitchen supervisor at the Philipsburg State General Hospital until her retirement.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by: a son, Norman J. Bell, Jr.; a daughter, Mary Jo Gunter; a granddaughter, Colleen Melius Box; two sisters, Elizabeth Gasper  and Annie Sabol; two brothers, John and Mike Gasper; and two step-brothers, Victor and George Chicko.

Mrs. Bell is survived by: a daughter, Naomi Smeal & her husband Ivan of RD Philipsburg, PA; three step-sisters, Josephine Miller of Lock Haven, PA, Pauline Klinedest of Red Lion, PA, and Betty Fye of Clarence, PA; and a step-brother, Steve Chicko of Clarence, PA.  She is also survived by: a daughter-in-law, Donna Bell of Osceola Mills; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.  Burial will be at the Philipsburg Cemetery in Philipsburg, PA.

There will be no public visitation.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, Philipsburg, PA.
