Joseph H. Barnyak, Jr.

Joseph H. Barnyak Jr., 72, of Sandy Ridge, passed away peacefully at Mount Nittany Medical Center Wednesday, April 22, 2020.

Born on September 7, 1947, in Philipsburg, he was the son of the late Joseph H., Sr. and Betty (Bechdel) Barnyak.

Joseph was a 1966 graduate of Philipsburg-Osceola Area High School.

Prior to retirement, Joe worked as a heavy equipment operator for 40 years for Trans-Continental Construction Company. Joseph was a dedicated family man and loved the game of golf. At one time, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. Joseph also had a true love for animals and the companionship they provided.

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, of 51 years, Kathleen (Giza) Barnyak. He is also survived by his three sons: Gregory J. Barnyak and wife, Tammy, James M. Barnyak and wife, Natalie and Jeffrey P. Barnyak and wife, Kate; and his brother Stevenson L. Barnyak. Joseph was the proud grandfather of eight grandchildren and one great granddaughter: Derek Caldwell and wife, Catherine, Nicholas Caldwell, Justin Hoffman, Dominik Barnyak, Bailey Barnyak, Vanessa Barnyak, Jackson Barnyak, Hudson Barnyak, and Peyton Caldwell. He is also survived by loving nephews, a niece, relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul and Richard L. Barnyak.

Due to the current healthcare crisis, visitation, service and interment will be held privately.
