Suzanne L. Askey

Suzanne L. Askey, 78, of Morrisdale, died Sunday, June 9, 2019, at her residence.

Suzanne was born on May 7, 1941, in Hawk Run, a daughter of the late Charles and Elvira (Harris) Howe.

Suzanne attended the former Morris Township High School. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Morrisdale, where she had been a member of the church choir and a Religious Education teacher. She was also a member of the Daughters of the King Guild with the Chapel of the Good Shepherd, Hawk Run.

Suzanne was a dedicated homemaker throughout her life. She was also employed with a few area businesses during her working career; most recently with the Philipsburg Area Hospital until its closure.

Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Christopher Askey; two brothers, Charles and Harry Howe; and her longtime companion, Leroy Eckley.

She is survived by two daughters, Lynn Shimel and her husband, Tom, of Hawk Run and Kathleen Kasubick and her husband, Rick, of Houtzdale; two sons, Scott Askey, Jr. and his wife, Kelly, of Mebane, North Carolina and Shawn Askey and his companion, Danielle McDowell, of Hawk Run; six grandchildren: Beth Selfridge and her husband, Jason, of Ramey, Jonathan Shimel and his wife, Cristal, of Hawk Run, Caleb Kasubick, of Houtzdale, Erin Selfridge and her husband, Sam, of Woodland, Jordan Askey and his companion, Desiré, of Philipsburg and Kiera Askey, of Hawk Run; one great-grandson, Stryker Shimel, of Hawk Run; one great-granddaughter, Spencer Askey, of Philipsburg; one step-great-granddaughter, Sianna Selfridge, of Port Matilda; two brothers, James Howe and his wife, Loretta, of Kylertown and Patrick Howe and his wife, Ruth Ann, of Bellefonte; two sisters-in-law, Marian Howe, of Erie and Joan Howe, of Hawk Run; and numerous other extended family members.

Suzanne loved going to the beach and spending time with her family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 13, 2019, at 10 am, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Morrisdale, with Fr. Robert J. Horgas, celebrant.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, from 5 to 8 pm, at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 719 E. Spruce Street, Philipsburg.

Interment will be in Ashcroft Cemetery, Hawk Run.
